DarkSide
Ransomware Recovery

DarkSide, a ransomware group first spotted in August 2020, has quickly become a significant threat to large, high-revenue organizations worldwide.

Operating as a ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS), DarkSide uses sophisticated techniques to encrypt and steal sensitive data, threatening to make it publicly available if the ransom demand is not met.
The group gained notoriety following the attack on Colonial Pipeline in May 2021, which led to a temporary shutdown of a pipeline supplying nearly half of the East Coast's fuel.
DarkSide's modus operandi involves initial access through exploiting public-facing applications, privilege escalation, and impairing defenses. The ransomware uses vulnerabilities like CVE-2019-5544 and CVE-2020-3992, targeting organizations using unpatched or older versions of the software.
DarkSide's double extortion tactic involves not only demanding payment to unlock affected computers but also to retrieve the exfiltrated data. The group has been known to target English-speaking countries and uses a customized ransom note and file extension for each victim.
Despite reports of the group's dissolution following the Colonial Pipeline incident, the threat posed by similar ransomware groups remains significant.

Secure and Fast Diagnosis to Analyze Ransomware Types and Cryptographic Attack Vectors

Our experts decipher RSA and AES algorithms, used by Governments, ISPs, Technological, Financial and Telecommunications Industries.
RSA as an asymmetric encryption algorithm uses 2 keys: 1 public to encrypt, 1 private to decrypt. AES is a symmetric encryption algorithm with common key lengths of 128, 192, and 256 bits.
Digital Forensic Analysis
We carry out a complete diagnosis of the encrypted files and affected systems to identify patterns that allow data recovery.
Reverse Engineering
We analyze the encryption algorithms to unlock your files and quickly find weaknesses in the code of the computer virus to decrypt it.

Forensic Data Recovery

We recover and remove the encryption of your files with advanced data recovery techniques and the creation of specific tools.

Advanced Cryptography

We have deep knowledge of encryption algorithms and the ability to develop cryptographic processes and constant investigation.

Why Should You Never Pay The ransom?

In 2020, OFAC and FinCEN declared it illegal to pay a ransom:

Companies that facilitate ransomware payments, not only encourage future ransomware payment demands but also may risk violating OFAC regulations.

What should I do if Ransomware has Encrypted my data?

1. Turn off or disconnect the computer from the network

2. Do not ever make contact with the cybercriminals

3. Do not pay the ransom requested for your data
